For over 80 years, Leather Industries of America (LIA) has served its members by providing environmental, technical, education, statistical and marketing services -- all at the direction of its membership and to the benefit of the leather industry.

Membership is divided into two categories: Leather and General:

LEATHER MEMBERSHIP is available to any U.S. business involved in the tanning, finishing, manufacturing, or selling of leather. 

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP is available to foreign companies and those with an interest in the industry, including hide brokers, consultants, chemical suppliers, equipment and leather product manufacturers.

Government Representation

Leather Industries of America's legal team works for congressional and regulatory action, which promotes the acceleration of leather exports, the elimination of protectionist trade restrictions, and the implementation of reasonable environmental regulations. 

Environmental Regulation

For over two decades, Leather Industries of America has dedicated itself to the development and communication of fair and sensible environmental regulations affecting the tanning industry.   

Leather Research Laboratory

Leather Industries of America also provides valuable technical and consulting services through the state-of-the-art Leather Research Laboratory, located at the University of Cincinnati.
